Forecourt Fuels FAST Fuel Cards

The OEA is pleased to introduce a new benefit for our members, their spouses and direct family members.

A FREE fuel card (launched April 2010) to help save on the cost of your diesel and unleaded.

That means no charges of any kind, no interest charges, no admin fees and no monthly fees. You only pay for the fuel you purchase and then you only pay the special OEA price not the normal pump price.

The OEA commercial price is fixed for 7 days from Monday morning to Sunday night and sent to each cardholder by sms text message the previous Friday. If you use it, you save money, if you don’t use it then it costs you nothing.

Fuel cards have been around for many years and are used primarily by transport firms and fleet operators to reduce the cost of fuel for their vehicles and as a great way to manage their fuel spend.

Now for the first time OEA members are eligible for a card. It is, in effect, similar to a debit card, but instead of paying cash you pay with the card and the amount is debited from your bank account 10 days later.

Example: You go to any Texaco or Morrisons forecourt (over 1,600 across the UK) and you check the pump price (varies from one garage to another).

You then compare the pump price with the OEA price on your mobile phone (the OEA price is sent by sms text message every Friday) and if the OEA price is cheaper you can opt to pay by the OEA FAST FUEL card.

If not, then you can pay by cash and not useyour card. The decision is yours. If you pay by card then it goes on your account and at the end of the week the account is consolidated into one invoice. We send you the invoice by email every Tuesday (for the previous 7 days Monday to Sunday) and the amount shown on your invoice is debited directly from your bank account 10 days later. Details of your account are available online at any time (password protected).

We are hoping to add other companies to the list shortly.

Savings: The amount you can save will vary depending upon the price at the forecourt. Today (April 2010) at some forecourts the price is 120p per litre whilst at others it maybe as low as 115p per litre. The OEA price is calculated on the average price across the UK less a minimum of 3p so normally it will be cheaper than 90% of forecourts. The beauty of the FAST fuel card is that you use it as and when you like with no cost for not using it. If it’s cheaper then put it on the card and save some money. The other big advantage of using a fuel card is keeping a track of your fuel spend which makes year end accounts a whole lot easier.

Accepted At Most Texaco & Morrisons: we will send out with your card a directory showing all the forecourts that will accept the OEA FAST FUEL CARD. This is most of the Texaco and Morrisons across the UK but also some independent garages as well. Forecourt staff are trained on how to use the card so there will be no teething problems as the FAST FUEL card is already in daily use by thousands of lorry drivers and fleet operators. Simply hand over the card at the cash desk and the attendant will swipe the card through their machine and you sign for it. The staff will normally ask for mileage and registration but this is not compulsory. Some forecourts will have pay machines at the pump so you don’t need to go into the cash desk - you just enter your pin number. We will send you a personal pin number with your card.
